2. Executive Director

QUALIFICATIONS


The Executive Director of Davis Stuart shall possess a Master's level degree in an area of human services of behavioral health field from an accredited graduate school. Experience in management in a congregate or group care setting is preferred. Prior experience in the financial aspects of non-profit work is a plus. It is desired, but not required, that the Executive Director be a licensed behavioral health provider or be capable of licensure. Because this is an agency affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), a commitment to work with the denomination and the presbytery, and to operate the agency within that covenant relationship is required. The Executive Director shall fulfill all requirements related to employment within a residential child care facility that would apply to staff primarily working directly with our residents, including background checks, and drug screening. A valid drivers' license is required. 

The mission of this agency involves providing residential therapeutic treatment to adolescents. While this is an administrative position, it is expected that the licensure officials, donors, potential donors, family members of our residents, judges, and court personnel. The ability to interact in a positive and meaningful way is essential to this position. Good written and verbal communication skills are important. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


The primary duties of this position are administrative in nature, but light occasional lifting may be necessary. The primary work location for this position is on the main campus of the facility, located in Lewisburg, WV, but travel is an expected and required part of the job. Travel will involve visits to other campus locations, to attend state and national meetings, to meet with donors, and potential donors, to work cooperatively with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), to attend court hearings, to transport children when other staff are not available, and to otherwise facilitate the mission of the agency. 


The hours of work in this position are full-time but flexible. Because this is a residential treatment facility, there are times that the Executive Director may be required to be on the main campus or other service location at any hour of the day or night. The full range of duties require sitting, standing, walking, speaking, typing, driving, and reading.

SUMMARY


The Executive Director is the chief executive officer and treasurer for Davis Stuart and in that capacity has full responsibility for all aspects of the agency's operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 



To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The duties listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

1.With the assistance of the Board of Directors and staff, the Executive Director formulates and implements a broad-ranging and comprehensive plan for both immediate and long-term plan for financial development, program development, and public support, aimed at fulfilling the mission of the agency. 
        1.1 The Executive Director seeks out and develops varied ways for presenting to the public the story, program, and needs of Davis Stuart;
        1.2 The Executive Director keeps adequate records of donors and prospective donors, and reports to the Board on demand or at stated times on the current status of this aspect of the position.

2. With assistance of the Board of Directors and staff, the Executive Director formulates, develops, and implements operating procedures, program direction and content, and staffing plans for the services provided by Davis Stuart in order to fulfill its mission.
        2.1 The Executive Director ensures that appropriate records regarding intake, service plans, services provided, discharge summaries, and all other records required to comply with court systems, behavioral health and child care licensure requirements are maintained and preserved;
        2.2 The Executive Director utilizes consultants to periodically evaluate the areas of financial development, administration, and delivery of child care and behavioral health services;
        2.3 The Executive director ensures that the program and operations of Davis Stuart meet all standards for licensure by the Department of Health and Human Resources, the Fire Marshall, the State Health Department, Medicaid, and all other State and Federal licensure requirements which impact that program's life and work;
        2.4 The Executive Director reports licensure decisions, evaluations, changes in program, and other pertinent information to the Board of Directors upon request and at stated meeting times;
        2.5 The Executive Director ensure that the policies, staffing plans, and treatment models in place in this agency promote the mission of the agency and the best interest of the children and families whom we serve. 

3. The Executive Director supervises all employees of the agency, whether those employees work in administrative, supervisory, direct care, farm and maintenance positions;
        3.1 The Executive Director makes the final decision on selection, hiring, promotion, and discharge actions;
        3.2 The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring that appropriate evaluations occur on a regular basis of the work of each employee and that the evaluations are objective and fair;
        3.3 The Executive Director ensures that a plan for corrective action and progressive discipline of employees who fail to meet performance standards or fail to observe appropriate policy or laws is in place and it administered fairly;
        3.4 The Executive Director ensures that adequate records regarding qualifications, skills, training, and proficiency, and other required information for employees and contractors are maintained in a safe and secure manner and regularly updated;
        3.5 The Executive Director is ultimately responsible for the work of all employees and contracts; therefore, he or she shall remain abreast of current operations, staffing plans, treatment models in use;
        3.6 In times of emergency, the Executive Director acts as a back-up person for the campus and group home supervisory staff;
        3.7 The Executive Director directly supervises and evaluates the Director of Spiritual Life, the Accountant, the Administrative Assistant to the Executive Direcotr, the Agency Assistant, the Farm Manager, the Director of Development, and the Director of Plant Management;
        3.8 The Executive Director is responsible for ensuring that the records of all residents, all employees and all other agency records are maintained in a safe and secure manner, in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. 

4. With the Board of Directors and the appropriate staff, the Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of budgeting and financial management for the agency.
        4.1 The Executive Director supervises all aspects of financial management, bookkeeping, and disbursements;
        4.2 The Executive Director, with the Board of Directors and staff, prepares a proposed budget on an annual basis for presentation and approval of the Board;
        4.3 The Executive Director provides written updates to the Board of Directors at each of the Board's meetings on the financial position of the agency, the expenditures in relation to the approved budget and the income of the agency, both real and anticipated;
        4.4 The Executive Director issues and implements plans within the agency to provide for the care and maintenance of the assets of the agency;
        4.5 The Executive Director implements approved by the Board of Directors regarding authorization for expenditures, record-keeping, and other internal policies designed to protect the integrity of the finances and assets of the agency.

3. Americorps VISTA - Development Associate

Davis Stuart is seeking a self-motivated, creative, and resourceful individual with excellent communication and organizational skills, experience in  and enthusiasm for fundraising, and a commitment to Davis Stuart's mission, to serve as our Development Associate and assist us with building capacity within our organization. 

The development associate will serve to support the expansion and function of Davis Stuart and promote growth in all departments. The development associate will build the capacity of the organization through he exploration of available community resources, grant research, and grant proposals. The position will also include planning fundraising, community, and statewide events. The development associate will work closely with the director of marketing and development, executive director(s), and the agency administrative assistant to continue to build upon the already strong foundation of support.

4. Overnight Child Care Worker - Group Home

Must be at least 23 year old, have a high school diploma or GED, pass an extensive criminal background check and drug screen.

Davis Stuart ishiring part-time and full-time overnight Child Care Workers at the Maxwelton, Princeton, and Bluefield Group Homes. Full time shifts are Monday-Thursday and part-time shifts are Friday-Sunday. Staff must:model for residents appropriate demeanor, self-control, and behaviors, maintainknowledge of each assigned resident's treatment plan, accurately completes allrequired documentation, supervises residents in their self-administration ofmedications.

5. Clinical Director

Applicant must hold a Master's Degree in a Human Services Field and be licensed in respective field. Five years post graduate experience with adolescents and three years of supervisory experience required. Must be able to pass extensive criminal background check, abuse and neglect registry check and pre-employment drug screen, and a valid WV driver's license is required. 

Davis Stuart is a licensed adolescent residential facility located on a beautiful 574 acre farm in the picturesque Greenbrier Valley. We are searching for an experienced candidate to fill the position of Clinical Director. The Clinical Director is housed at the main campus facility in Lewisburg, WV. The Clinical Director will supervise a clinical team of Social Workers and Therapists, provide oversight for all treatment planning, and participate in determination of appropriate referrals for the facility.
